MANDATE: What is the mission that we are apart of?
We are a part of God’s people, building His Kingdom on earth.
Moving from Church to Kingdom
Part 3 of Mandate
- Commencement: What is the Church?
- Recycled: Jesus did not coin the word “Church” in Matthew 16:18, it is found throughout the OT.
- Assembled: Church means to be gathered for a purpose, which even includes an angry mob.
- Unified: A proper understanding of Church focuses on our unified focus, instead of individual buildings.
- Cultivation: The Church is the means not the end.
- Micro: When we center the Gospel around local bodies we lose sight of the bigger picture.
- Means: While the Church is not the mission of God, we are the means to bring it into reality.
- Mission: The Church’s mission is corporately and individually to function as Jesus’ body to model citizenship in the Kingdom of God.
- Conflict: Our mission is the Kingdom of God.
- Reeducation: Individually and corporately we are to make disciples trained for the Kingdom of God.
- Restore: We are to be a place of restoration, rest and recharging for the hurting and tired.
- Regroup: Diversity brings the balance of perspective, by meeting to regroup and refocus.
- Culmination: How the Kingdom of God impacts everything.
- Government: Since we can understand Kingdom as government, we can orient ourselves around its system.
- Perspective: The larger picture of the Kingdom and our role in it makes us both humble and honored.
- Drive: Since the Gospel is infinitely larger than us, it drives us far past ourselves, into imitation of Jesus.
