MODE: What is Salvation?

Salvation is the process of becoming like Jesus.

Moving from Convert to Process

Part 1 of our Mode

1. Commencement: Conversion is an incomplete picture compared the great process of salvation.
1. History: Christians through history have had many different ideas of about salvation, so did non-Christians.
2. From what: To answer what is salvation,we have to ask what are we saved from?
3. Death: We are not saved from sin, since we still struggle. Instead, we are saved from the effects of sin -  death.
2. Cultivation: What is the process of salvation?
1. Justification: When we believe we are forgiven, so we can live in rightness with God.
2. Sanctification: After we are made right, we start the process of growing into the image of Jesus.
3. Glorification: We are finally and fully saved, when we are resurrected in the New Heaven and New Earth.
3. Conflict: The error of asking the wrong question about salvation.
1. Useless Debates: Asking wrong questions can lead into useless, unfruitful and unknowable debates.
2. Lack of Love: Wondering how much evil we can do and still be saved, is a thinking void of love of Jesus.
3. Consumed: Instead of acting as if sin is fun, we can actively and creatively be consumed by the Gospel.
4. Culmination: How to continue to grow in our faith, into salvation.
1. Grow: The greater and larger we view the Gospel, the more we want it to invade and transform our lives.
2. Trim: The more we grow in our faith the more we want to remove or change what doesn’t line up with the Gospel.
3. Fertilize: We then seek to find new ways for our faith to grow better, stronger and more healthy.
