Moving from Savior to Lord
Part 3 of Method
- Commencement: Understanding Jesus as Savior is only the beginning.
- Incomplete: While Jesus asa Savior is a good start, Jesus is much more.
- Messiah: The Jewish idea of Messiah is Savior but so much more.
- Function: We can only think of Jesus as Savior, but we are called act and follow Jesus as Lord.
- Cultivation: How do we understanding how the Bible refers to Jesus, and how do we respond?
- Review: All of the names and titles of Jesus point to the all encompassing function of the Gospel.
- Summary: Jesus is Lord is the shortest summary of the Gospel and all names of Jesus.
- Creation: Jesus is Lord over creation, which includes this world, humanity and the cosmos.
- Sin: Jesus is Lord over sin, by canceling the debt held against us by the devil, and freeing us from the law.
- Death: Jesus is Lord over death, by conquering over all the world’s brokenness by His resurrection.
- Conflict: How and why should we strive to be faithful over “perfect”.
- Misunderstood: The Bible often calls us to be perfect, but the word is much different than we think.
- Negating: We reject the biblical concept of perfection, we can easily reject the goal of trying to more faithful to follow Jesus.
- Journey: The term faithful incorporates the idea of perfect while pointing us down the journey we are on.
- Culmination: Real faith is not about mentally thinking theology.
- Confess: Jesus doesn’t need us to agree with him that He is Lord, we need to follow Him as such.
- Hypocrisy: Is thinking that stating doctrine is enough without changing our lives accordingly.
- Living: Every action we make shows all who are looking what we actually believe
